Nine Months
Weight: 20 lbs 8 oz, 50-75th percentile
Height: 29 inches, 75-90th percentile
Head: 18 1/2 inches, 95-98th percentile
- LOVES to play peek-a-boo. LOVES it. He thinks it's hilarious. It is, without a doubt, his favorite game to play and it's our favorite way to get him to laugh and smile. After many months of only the occasional courtesy laugh from him, we're glad to have a trick that guarantees a good giggle.
- Points to everything. It's adorable. He especially loves to point to pictures in books... The Very Hungry Caterpillar is his current favorite. (He likes to stick his fingers in the little holes.) He also points to fans, lights, balloons, and people.
- Crawls! He's up on all fours almost all of the time now. He still army crawls occasionally, but he's phasing it out. He's had lots of practice because he's such a busy body. He also pulls himself up to standing on all our furniture and on us. Where did my baby go!?
- Babbles some, but not as much as other babies. He talks to us on occasion - he's got the da, ya, ma, and ba sounds down, but he's not a constant talker and he's not very loud.
- Cries when we put him to sleep. He started out as such a good sleeper, but after a couple of vacations and illnesses, we were rocking him completely to sleep for all his naps and at night. This month we started a little sleep training where after a consistent time-for-bed routine we laid him down and left the room. The first few days were rough, but he's doing much better now and sleeping longer. Success!
- Mimics us. He tries to put cars and toys on his head, like dad does. He talks into a cup, like dad does. He also gives fives and bonks his head, like dad taught him. I guess I should say that he mimics his dad!
- Has five teeth. I don't think I ever posted about him getting his top teeth. The two front ones came in first, at around 7 months. The next one on the right came in around 8 months. We're still waiting for the one on the left to come in.
A few other things from this month...
T and I have been walking with friends from our neighborhood a few times a week. We walk on the trail to a local park, the kids play for a bit and then we head home. We've been doing this for a few months and this is the one and only picture I took. It's been so nice to spend time with friends and get out of the house. I'll miss it so much!!
One of the things we really wanted to do before we left Lincoln was tour the University of Nebraska football stadium. We finally made it happen...

Following tradition and touching the horseshoe on our way out onto the field. The team even takes this horseshoe with them when they travel to away games. Tradition runs deep.

G graduated from law school... more on that in a separate post... and we moved. We weren't so sure when we first got here, but we have loved living here and we will miss our little place. Our goal was not to move during law school and we didn't. We lived in this townhouse for longer than any other place since we got married. 3401 Starr St. #2 saw us through three years of law school, FOUR jobs (three of mine and one of G's), a miscarriage, a baby and lots of laughs, disappointments, lessons learned, and meeting some of our closest and dearest friends.

After we made it to Utah, we spent five days with my beautiful sister before she was off to California to start a contract with Holland America for 9 months. She is so amazingly talented and I'm incredibly proud of her for dreaming big and making it all happen. I wish she was going to be around this summer, but missing her is a small price to pay to see her sing and perform on a cruise ship later this summer.
